Does anyone has an idea on this?

I am planning to interface the Control L to the Atmega1281 via the ELM624. Is this possible?

I'm worrying about the outcome of the communication b/w the ELM624 and the MCU.
Based on the application schematic on the datasheet of ELM624(https://www.elmelectronics.com/DSheets/ELM624DS.pdf), instead of connecting the TxD & RxD pins to an RS232 DBF Connector, I plan to connect it directly on one of the USART ports of the ATMEGA1281.

My questions are:

1. Will this work or do i need something in b/w the ELM624 & MCU for the communication to be functional?
2. What code can be appropriate for this type of project?

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I have been working with the elm624 using a Pic micro and maybe affor a little help
