ASIC career in backend design

Hi,

I am a graduate in ASIC design and whilst looking for grad jobs have noticed that almost all jobs are in digital front end design - whilst im more interested in back end design.
Is this because you start in the front end and move towards backend design? Is backend considered more intellectually intensive or the other way round? Does the same apply for analogue design?
