Dear friends
Its been a long time here i am aking a question. I am in trouble and yet i have time to get out of it

I am planning to design some thing which is likely to run under hazardous circumstances. I designed it using 8051 using assembly. But now i have to incorporate some new features in it and planning to explore my C knowledge by using it as my programming language. Thus i need to have a fast controller and nothing is better than ARM as you all know

As i am new to it please help me by suggesting the best ARM controller with all its development tools required and their configuration and all those things which are required to know. I have selected st STR7 but i want to share your thoughts on it also

Thanks

Hi

There is no limitation to use well known products!

Follow following link to get GNU tool chains for ARM7 family you can develop with all
free products.

Hi,

I used GNU Products (WinARM) for Developing with Cirrus Logic products.it's very good.(because no other compiler supports it's Maverick Crunch FPU Engine)

But i tried before Both Keil and IAR Compilers for speed optimization, after all optimization the IAR speed was 5~10 times faster than Keil.(with the same code)

I'm very pleased with IAR Compiler.IAR has a Kickstart edition with 32KB Limit.
you can use it for free.I think you sould try it.

Good Luck!

Hi,

For IAR, Try http://www.sevensandnines.com/ and

http://www.iar.com/index.php?show=92028_ENG&&page_anchor=http://www.iar.com/p92028/p92028_eng.php

WinARM (usually most GNU -Based Compilers) Support Some Devices and their
Special Functions that Commercial Compilers doesn't support them usually.(EX:
I can't find any commercial compiler that support Maverick Crunch FPU engine of
Cirrus Logic EP93xx ARM Processor)
You can also use WinARM Compiler using IAR or Keil or (Some other) IDEs.
You can also use The IAR built-in debugger (depend on your program and your device and Some Luck also!).

For Another GNU ARM Toolchain check
http://www.yagarto.de

For JTAG Debugger you can use H-JTAG http://www.hjtag.com/download.html

Good Luck!
