You can either use shift or use a macro that may make things easier for example IO0SET= (1<<BIT); IO0CLR= (1<<BIT); or #define SETBIT(ADDRESS,BIT) (ADDRESS = (1<<BIT)) and then use SETBIT(IO0SET,BIT) SETBIT(IO0CLR,BIT) Alex
