are there different formats for binary file (confused betweeen c++ MATLAB & Labview)

hello evey one.

are there different formats for binary file. It is because to me it does not look like, since the binary file is just like that, binary. right? I read some data from FPGA, save it in binary format, but when I am reading it from matlab every thing is OK.
but when I am doing same in Labview (which is my program afterwards), cannot... I guess it is giving following info error

Error 116 occurred at Read from Binary File in Andy_Bin2ASCII.vi

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW: Unflatten or byte stream read operation failed due to corrupt, unexpected, or truncated data.
