Dear All,

Kindly let me know the different ways in which Linux can be used in Basic Sciences like in Physics and also in Electronics.

Regards,

Rahul

I use Debian and Ubuntu. I program in Python and made a program to log the output of a multimeter (usb) and a program to help me to operate an impedance bridge that has many modes and involves a lot of math. So now I just follow the program and feed it with the data and the it gives me all the right values like Z, R, jX, C, L, Y, G, jB, Rl, Rho etc. Both programs also can run on my raspberry-pi.
I use simetrix and Qucs as sims and LT-spice (that runs under Wine) , Eagle to make pcbs, linsmith for smith chart calculations.
For some things I need Windiows, my VNA only works with windows (it can be done in a virtual machine but that is not ideal for this software so I made my laptop dual boot)
