First of all you have to install your web-cam properly. The best way is to use driver-set that you have with your camera. After that you to download InventVision VFW vi examples from Internet dependently of LabView version in use.

We are doing a project at school and thinking about using a web cam for a home security system. I would be interested to hear if you had any success with your idea.

i was using a Logitech Quickcam with the following driver in Labview 6.1

as i know the motion/picture function are working with national instruments equipment only! Not with standard usb webcam. :-((

maybe you can try to write a DLL (in visual c++ or borland c++,...) or use it in LabVIEW (or even an ActiveX component if this is availble)
