HI, if the table top is anti static then does it also need to be grounded with wires ?

Hi,

definitely YES.
It needs to be earthed - usually with a 1M series resistor.
And all other metallic or conductive equippment, too.
The worker also needs an earthed (1M Ohms) wrist band.

Everyting else is not that effective.

The table top is anti static but there is no connection for cables. How to connect cables to ground ?

Hi,

Did you read the datasheet of the antistatic mat? It shold explain how to use the mat. Additionally they should give informatiin how to build an ESD protected working place.
Don't say there is no datasheet.

There are mats - usually for the floor - they just reduce that electrostatic voltage is generated.
But the mats for the table of an ESD working place are to dissipate ESD energy, they need a high ohmic earth connection.

The ESD mats have anti static top means top surface is insulator. The bottom surface of ESD mat is conductive which has to be connected to the ground by 1 M Ohm resistor. The arm strap has also to be connected to the conductive bottom sufrace of the ESD mat which is connected to ground.

If the table top is anti static (insulator) then don't we only need to be grounded ourselves with arm strap ? means no need to ground the table ? or no need to use ESD mat on the table ?

Hi,

The table top must not be an insulator, this makes no sense. It has to be defined high ohmic.
Again: please read the table mat's datasheet. If there is none, throw the mat away.
