Perhaps you're referring to the fact that radio sinewaves continue to be used to transmit digital tv, same as is used with analog tv?
Often when we call an appliance digital, it's because the use of binary operation has brought some key benefit. Somewhere an element of analog operation may continue to persist.
The key concept that distinguishes digital tv is the binary method of transmission. Switching between two states (or between two frequencies, or between presence and absence of a frequency, etc.). It yields freedom from noise for the most part. That may be its biggest advantage.
An analog tv can still be used to display a digital broadcast. Same as analog VGA monitors are used with computers. However the analog tv needs to have a conversion process going on somewhere to be compatible.
