Why both K and B1 needed for amplifier stability?
Can’t we have only stability factor K, why B1 is needed? Cant we design with only one parameter i.e., K, because, as it is even Delta also will be used.

All I know is K>1, B1>0 for an amplifier to be unconditionally stable.

Also some books refer to u parameter. Is this the one we need to refer while designing amplifiers.

Regards,

K>1, |del|<1 & B1>0 are the necessary and sufficient conditions for stability

May I recommend something to avins_1234 as well as to goal?
For my opinion it would be wise not to use abbreviations/symbols that can stand for everything.
It would be much more better to use corresponding words resp. definitions.
Perhaps this could be beneficial for a good and detailed answer (with justification).

Hello everyone,

K- Stability Factor

B1 - Auxilary Stability Factor

My question is, Why B1 is needed, In many RF and Microwave textbooks, only K-Factor is mentioned. Please clarify.

Regards

matched load is obtained by solving for conjugate input and output reflection co-efficients. it has two solutions as a quadratic equation one with + sign and another with - sign. if B1>0 you need to use - sign to get matched reflection co-eff <1 which gives maximum gain if B1<0 we need to use + sign to get matched reflection co-eff <1 which gives minimum gain.
see microwave transistor amplifiers design by Gonzalez.

dear avins
for detailed description you can see Appendix B of book microwave transistor amplifier(analysis and design) by guillermo gunzalles second edition
