Hi, I'm working in PCB project that is already transfered to PCB, already annotated ofcourse, and re-annotated in PCB and changes are updated back to the schematic agian successfully.

Now, I need to add some parts to one of my schematics, the new parts are ofcourse Undesignated "ex U?".

when I use "Tools --> annotate" , it gives the logical or schematic level annotation to my new parts. But in most cases, the new logical designators CONFLICTS with the existing Board level designators.
Example, one of my new parts has given U20 as schematic designator, but U20 is already used as Board level designator for U50.

My Question
what are the steps to designate these newly added parts without changing the current schematic or PCB designation of components?

Appreciating any help

I tried to test that, by adding two new components C? and R? to an existing project that is in Sync with the PCB. When I use Tools ---> Annotate Schematics Quietly, it tells that "No Designator Changes are required for project", and no change happen to the R? and C?.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

can you ever change the "complete macthing packages" which in the "Annotate schematic" ? maybe it is the problem?

There is one option in tools>>board level annotate there is tab in that as annotate option in which it shows annotate undesignated try that.

You need to go through through the "annotate schematic" .
Tools >> Annotate Schematic. Then simply press Update Changes list. It will let you know how many parts changed designators.

One thing I do is to start with 100's. So, all pars on sheet 1 start with 100. Then all parts on sheet 2 start with 200. You can control this with the Start index.
