Aliasing is a phenomenon that occurs when the sampling frequency (Fs) is less than 2X the maximum frequency (Fin) of the signal to be sampled. Under these conditions, any signals with a frequency > Fs/2 appear on the output as a signal with a frequency of Fs/2-Fin. For example, If the sampling frequency is 2000Hz, and the input frequency is 1001 Hz, The signal on the output would have a frequency of 1001 - (2000/2) = 1Hz.
