From my point of view, software radio is not realistic at all. Since it requires high speed ADC, maybe in RF. That's the reason that the software radio has been proposed for years but no real applications till now.

In fact high speed ADCs are off the shelf now, an 8 bit ADC can achieve a sample rate of 1.5Gsps, with On-Chip 2.2GHz Bandwidth Track/Hold Amplifier,[MAX108], ADCs with even higher sample rate that have been proposed for years are also under develpment, some state-of-the-art software radio products are available as well. so never say something is not realistic..

Software Radio is a new field,
it is basically controlling RF section digitally , for Eg,
Flow is
MAC - > BB -> PMD
PMD is controlled digitally by Base Band,
U can refer Software Radio by jerry.

Maybe there are some other sampling technology.
Such as pipeline sampling.
If the sampling clk is good enough,then pipeline samping is possible and realistic.

Sir I m in NED UET and I m trying to implement DDC on FPGA.
But we donot have much material support about it.

Is there any particular book available.

I just checked maxim website. They are really brilliant to have made this 1.5Gsps ADC. But i'm wondering what kind of back end devices can process the data at such a high speed. And also high power consumption make them unsuitable for mobile devices.

I think another approach that use undersampling techniques makes more commerical sense.
