I want to interface Varitronix(VI-302-DP-FC-S-LV) LCD with ATXMEGA64B1 controller. From the datasheet of controller it is clear that it has segment LCD interface so that I can connect segments of LCD with controller pins directly but I am confused about COM pins and BACKLIGHT arrangement for the same. Also not getting how to give supply voltage to LCD????

There won't be any other separate supply for such LCDs. The display will be through the drive voltage through the COM and segment pins.
Attached is the detailed spec sheet found in my search for this LCD. Probably you were missing this. Refer to pg # 6, you will know how to connect the LCD to the MCU now.

So it is just straight forward connection between segment pins of LCD and segment pins of controller. One more doubt, are the COM terminals of LCD are interlinked and do I need to make external arrangement for backlight?
