Hey

I would like to build a coil gun for the engineering day

could any one help me with the nessesary schematics and maps for this project ?

Furthermore ,

If i found the maps and schematics , could i make this gun connected to an alarm

(burgler alarm) , such that if the alarm was activated , the gun would fire ?

By the way i found this small circuit in my search

I am waiting 4 ur help ,

Dont let me down plz

Shooting thief is forbidden under law if he does not intend to shoot you. It is not a human way to prevent theft . :)

I suggest to use door blocking with sleeping gas injection . At least bad guy will be alive .

LoL

It is just an engineering project, u know just 4 fun

:) It would be a cool idea though

Annyways , i am intrested now also in building

portable coil gun , can any one provide me with

step, step by step slow instructions , tools ,,, etc?

I would be so greatfull , 10x

I dont play with guns - it is quite dangerous.)

This page **broken link removed**
(if we trust author apriori) gives details of what (whom) you are going to design (shoot).)

The guy measured best speed was about 7 m per sec which can not be compared to 6600 feet per sec (about 3M) at http://www.lonesentry.com/articles/electricgun/index.html

Though not being specialist in guns i can propose following improvements to Barry's approach :

a. As increase in voltage above 60V did not improve
projectile speed it is may be better to play with metallic ball and pulse width - to make pulse shorter.
I suppose the energy from discharging capacitor did not expire when projectile passed coil - that was resulted in back force to projectile and reduced further speed increase .

b.Good to put more than one coil and give a pulse sequentially to them to give gradular acceleration to projectile .

But above are improvements , so you have to go first for simple .

I think the page is full of details - so would be better to post questions on that design or to design you are goining to clone if needed.
