Hello I have found this modem in another post

I would like to ask if this simple built 9600 modem is compatible with the https://www.amsat.org/amsat/articles/g3ruh/109.html modem or the better https://www.amsat.org/amsat/articles/kd2bd/9k6modem/9k6modem.html
Both of these designs seem more sophisticated (AFC, scrambling, clock recovery etc), but the modem presented here is very simple. Could that really work satisfactorily?
