8051 assembly code to measure optical encoder output....

i hav connected output of optical encoder to pin p1.0.As we get pulses at the o/p of the encoder....so i need 8051 code to calculate total number pulses..plz help me...

instead of P1.0 connect it to int0 pin and count the number of pulses in an interrupt...........

or i think use external counter.....what is incoming pulse rate...it would be helpful u help you out!
