5x7 LED dot-matrix problem

Hi,
I need help with a 5x7 LED dot-matrix display.
I cannot use it properly coz the vendor did not give me any datasheet OR pin config. AND there r no pin numbers on it. the vendor said that the displays are standard like gate IC's that irrespective of manufacturer the pin config is same.

I cannot find a way to light specific LEDs using the given pins.
Plzz some1 help me.
 

Take a look at the picture below .. it shows common pin configuration of 5x7 LED dot-matrix ..
Compare with what you have then get a 9V battery (or power supply) with a current limiting resistor (1kΩ-10kΩ) and test pins, say, 13 and 9 - you have two options: for common anode (+) goes to pin 13 and (-) to 9, for comman cathode the opposite way around ..
