555 Timer Monostable 5V to 3V !

Hello All.

I have made a Monostable 555 circuit that runs on 5V and works fine, lights up my laser.

I need to run the circuit from a 3V battery CR2032, when I use 3V the laser doesn't light up.

Should I use a transistor?
Is the 555 timer not cable of running on 3V?

The laser works on 3V fine out of circuit.

I don't want the circuit to draw too much current from the battery at the moment its drawing 20mA.

Thanks

Hi,

Is the 555 timer not cable of running on 3V?
The datasheet should tell you.
I don't know...I'd need to read it, too.

Klaus

Sorry, I think I just found the problem.

The minimum voltage is 4.5V so NO.

The ICM7555, TLC555 and LMC555 are Cmos and are all the same. They work with a supply as low as 2V but then the output current is low.

Thanks for the reply's.

I have used a TLC555IP works perfect :).
