I want to simulate a 50MHz helical antenna using HFSS,the wave length is about 6000mm. if the distance between the antenna and the air box is biger than ¼λ,the air box is very large.I wounder how to set the size of the air box and the boundary conditions.

Dear friend, thanks for help.I used the size is biger than a quarter wavelength, but the software HFSS give some error message about mesh。Do you have some antenna models about this frequency in HFSS?

Hello,

I recommed you use a SW without airbox. For this case, you could used an MoM code for wire antennas. If the helix wire is thin compared to the wavelength and to the turn diameter, MoM for wire antennas works Ok.

Such frequency and dimensions are tough for tools, which use volume meshing and bounded calculation domain. Try MoM tools - there only antenna itself needs to be meshed. Air is free.

Can you upload your model, btw?
