Indeed it's less problematic than connecting speakers in series. A good amplifier is a low impedance voltage source, thus the output voltage for "one speaker" should be the same as for "two speakers in parallel. Klaus

Good normal sounds occur only in a narrow beam that has the same distance to each speaker.
