Hello, i am doing a 4 bit up/down counter. i am a newbie. i have the code but what do i do about pin assignments? or do i need them at all?
 

yes you need pin assignments, otherwise quartus will just assign them randomly. If you go to the assignment editor you can assign the pins in there.
