[SOLVED] parallel port communication to PCB

I want to communicate the PCB through parallel port of PC.i have read about all the 25 pins and how does the data transmitted to printer by considering the pins. here understood that its has three registers.
data register,control register and status register. I want to know these registers will work in case of commincateing the PCB.IS it possible to communicate parallel port through hyperterminal? If so kindly provide link to go though it and wud try myself.IF not i have to write program to communicate right!? .pls provide that example links...for reference.
