Hello, I would like to know if there is any way to convert a 24 bits lcd TFT signal to a 4 bits lcd STN signal. Could I use 4 bits of 8bits of the red signal and the others signals set to ground?. Is there any chip for this purpose?

Thanks a lots

Best Regards

Hello. Sorry for my ignorance. I am using beagleboard. I would like to use a 4 bits STN LCD, the out of begleboard is 24 bits RGB. I don't know if it is possible to make any interface to downgrade the resolution.

Thanks a lots

Hello!

No reply is possible unless you provide more information.
Usually low-cost, low resolution LCDs have a built-in DRAM,
and TFTs don't. But that's not an absolute rule. In the mobile phone
technology there are now TFTs with built-in DRAM. Consequence:
you send data once and it stays displayed. If there is no DRAM, then
you have to send the same data repeatedly to refresh the image.
If you don't, it fades within less than a second.

Now the only solution do do what you want is to have access
to the driver (i mean, you should get the source code).
Then you have to build a new library and keep the API as it is
if you want to reuse some existing code.

Dora.
