1A fuse blows instantly when 10A goes through it?

Please notice that the data sheet gives only pre-arcing time. Total time to break is longer.

Thanks, the i^2.t for the fuse is 2.8, so that means 740A could flow through it for 5us and it wouldnt blow. Seems too much?
 

Two points to consider
- fuse might not interrupt the current if breaking capacity is exceeded
- after the fuse element has melted, an arc of at least several ms can occur, depending on the circuit I/V characteristic
