I am wondering if the output current of switching power regulator is based on the input current.

Based on datasheet of TPS61087, the output current of switching power regulator is not based on input current.

How do you think?

Thanks.

Where do you see it? The datasheet doesn't discuss the relation of input and output current, but obviously it doesn't mean that they are unrelated.

Most designers surely know, that they are linked by input voltage, output voltage and converter efficiency.
