I am sure 68000 is a proper 16 bit microprocessor. How about 68HC16, would it also be considered 16 bit microprocessor, or is it still in 8-bit realm.

thanks

As srizbf indicated the 68HC16 incorporates a 16 bit core, aka CORE16. However, it did provide a crossover between the 8-bit and 16-bit microcontrollers (MCUs).

Freescale 68HC16

It is now produced by a few companies including MAXIM:

The datasheet should provide all the information needed.
