Need information on TSOP17xx series of IR detectors

IR detection

Could you please tell me some thing more about the TSOP17xx series of IR detectors and GPU%8x?
Also, in the TSOP datasheet i saw a parameter called burst. What does it mean exactly?

the burst refers to the amount of time of your output..
 

IR detection

for what purpose you are using this detector.
are u using it with remote control or you are making your own transmitter.
