is laser lights visible? i recently saw a laser show in a hotel. i thought laser is invisible. how cud a coherent, high intense beam of laser be visible?
thanks

Re: laser

hi dear laser light is visible also

laser

The optical wavelengths (0.4um to 0.7um), this is the range of the visible light. However, we don't use these wavelengths in optical communications due to the high attenuation.

The wavelength usually used is 1.55um which near infrared(invisible).

Re: laser

LASER=light amplification of stimulated emission of radiation..
above process can be done on visible and also on invisible light..the resultant is LASER which can be visible and can also be invisible..

laser

ofcourse laser light is visible. it depends upon the region of wavelengh.

Re: laser

Think of it this way, the light from lasers is caused by stimulated emissions of electrons from the conduction band to the valence band. When this happens photons are released, therefore, light is release for sure. The question is whether its frequency is in the range our eyes can see.

hope nothing is wrong with my answer.

if the light is invisible, and it is made laser, then the laser will be invisible..
if the light is visible, then the laser made of it will also be visible..

The laser light is visible or not is depend on the wave length of the light. And according to each application, the light may bi visible or not.

Re: laser

test out is right laser are visible if the frequency is produced within our optical nerve capability to see.
