fr4 dielectric constant

Anyone pls tell me how to find the dielectric constant of an unknown FR4 board using microstrip line...

Then if I have a Er =4.7 FR4 board @ 100 MHz ... anyone can tell me how to find the Er of this board at 4 GHz.

Thanks.

effective dielectric constant of fr4

Hi kent,

Is it you are referring to effective dielectric constant!!!

Then use Transmission line calculator...
http://www.appwave.com/products/mwoffice/txline.html

Since some of the electric energy is stored in the air and some in the dielectric, the effective dielectric constant for the waves on the transmission line will lie somewhere between that of the air and that of the dielectric. Typically the effective dielectric constant will be 50-85% of the substrate dielectric...

fr4 effective dielectric constant

There have been widespread discussion about FR4 in this forum. Try to search edaboard RFMW first. You will find a lot of information.
