Can any please tell me about basic guide lines for routing of differential pairs in multilayer pcb? Basiacally;
consideration for differential impedance
about their waveform shapes
Seperation criterion between two signals

Thanks
Abhishek

this might be of some help,

and you can search the ebook section of the forums. There are a lot of books on Signal Integrity and general PCB guidelines that you will find useful.

differential traces are 100 ohm
the general criteria for differentail traces are as follow

Space between the conductors should not be more than twice the width (S < 2W)
n
Thickness of the board should be more than the space between the conductors (B > S)
n
Space between two adjacent differential pairs should be greater than or equal to twice the space between the two
individual conductors. (D > 2S)

rule for thumb is that if trace width is 5 mil then spacing between indivisual traces is 5 mil

Simple.......the main reason to use differential pairs, is to minimize the noise..correct? So if we need to minimize the noise, then what should be done?? Answer, The phase cancellation should occur...correct? How will phase cancellation occur on differential signals? Answer is, route them parallel to one another with the minimum DRC and match their lengths. Sometimes when the differential signals exit out from a pin, there might be a very small portion of the exit which cannot be routed closely to one another..well, thats ok.
