Dear All ,

Can anyone tell me how to calculate power dissipation in switch regulator ? Please let us know.

Regards,
V. Prakash

Hi,

the datasheet should tell you.
Usually there is an efficieny chart.

Hi,

I am using IC34063 switching regulator. Is there any formula to calculate Power dissipation as like linear regulator : Pd = (Vin - Vout) x IL + Vin * IQ. Please let us know.

Regards,
V. Prakash

which tool you are using ?

You need to compute power lost in all components, mainly the power stage.

Hi,
Is there any formula to calculate Power dissipation as like linear regulator:
Yes.
Generally (for linear as well as swtiching regulators): P_dissip = P_in - P_out = V_in * I_In - V_out * I_out
where V_in = DC, V_out = DC, I values are DC or average_values
