Hello All...I found from our very a bit old tester boards consists of mercury relay...I learned mercury relay more from google but I cant exact part number replacement. Any relay expert here can suggest replacement for mercury relay? really appreciate...thanks.
The big benefit of mercury relay is that they don't suffer from contact bouncing.
One problem may be that they are not produced anymore (or only in small quantities) because they violate ROHS regulations.
(My assumption, because mercury is a very toxic metal)
Thus you may look for a compromise.
Identical electrical specifications..but with dry contacts.
Maybe - if possible - you need to increase wait time after switching ... before measurement ... in your tester..
Maybe a semiconductor relay is an alternative - without contact bouncing. Like photo-mos relays.
Great inputs mr Klaus...just learned from you about the photomos relay...I thought photomos can handle milli amps only. After further research, have found some photomos relays are capable upto 2A load....I am now in the direction if replacing the mercury relay into photo-mos relay...work in progress...really thankful I joined this forum EDABOARD ")
