Dear experts,
Please help me to findout simulation error. I am getting error msg as shown in attached pics.
Circuit shown is to just check whether UC3842 is working in Proteus 8.0 version or not.
Simulation does not stop but gives error. I doubt on Model UC3842 files (.MDF, .IDX, .LIB) which i downloaded.
Regards.

Hi,

Are you sure to leave VSS unconnected?
And Vref?

Klaus

Hi,
Even after connecting Vss to GND, it is showing same error.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes Vss should be connected to GND. Even after connecting to the GND, it gives same error.

Hi

still there is VRef unconnected.

--> I recommend to test the model with it´s standard circuit, like in the datasheet.

Klaus

Try the UC18XX model that is included in the standard library.

These all look like pretty straightforward errors to debug.
It's telling you plainly that within the subcircuit (or schem
hierarchy) for U1 there are many components lacking a
set property, or referring to a variable / instance property
that does not exist. Might be properties of U1 instance or
"mystery hooks" in the subcircuit code, but it should be
really simple (we don't care if it's tedious) to just go and
see what's up with, for example, L1 wherever it resides
as an element of U1's design. There's something or there's
nothing for its "inductance" property. Either way you will
learn something about what's unhooked, and it's probably
true of many "fellow traveler" errors too.

Try and look again. It should be there. Enter exact part number in your search.

Hi,

This UC3842?

I'm unable to understand the simulation circuit choice - it looks as though there are major components like the inductor and the mosfet missing. What is the purpose of that simulation?

I don't use that software but it's possible some of the error messages are about a) missing components, and b) component values which may have been altered, say from 1K:1K to 1K:10K, and a capacitor value or absence. Is that a ready-made reference design file to simulate?

It appears that it is just some experiment controlling the current though the LED. The chip itself can drive 500 mA or more at its output and is usually used to drive an MOSFET when used in a switching converter.
