Customize embedded linux software for your cusromize board

I am hardware designer new to learn linux software. Now my custom linux board can not boot up, when i see in the u-boot folder there's a lot of files might it including library, linked files. But I dont know which file is need for my board: config, device tree.. any one can guide me each step to succesful boot up. Hardware based on SoC like raspberry, A10, beagleboard..

Because it is an open software you can look into the source code of the boot loader of and see which files are required. And the do the similar configuration with your board.
