Hi,

I was just wondering, is EDAboard going to move over from an http to an https URL? It is a basic format for any and every website nowadays.

SSL certificates cost money and Edaboard does not carry any sensitive information so although it may be changed, I can't see any urgency to do so.

Brian.

Letsencrypt (https://letsencrypt.org/) service which is sponsored by a lot of big names like Mozilla and Facebook offers free SSL certificates. I have used it and it is not to difficult to setup and works quite well.

In case of doubt, changing to https would reduce the server throughput and cause more frequent congestion. Edaboard http server performance is already worse enough.

Okay, thanks for the replies, they answer the question.

Well, I don't think that HTTPS is necessary. As for the security, you should NOT use the same password on every site, or just make your Edaboard password unique.

OK I have changed my password for this site to "unique", will that keep me safe? Hopefully its better than the old one which was "password".

Only kidding....

Hi All...

We switched over to https last month. The site can handle both secure & insecure traffic now. When logging in the site will FORCE you over to https.

Good news; safety and security for all.

Can you please confirm whether it has actually increase load or congestion and reduced the server throughput? I am just curious (extra cost for security)...
