Hi,

I have interfaced BMP280 Pressure sensor with the Raspberry PI. I measured the atmospheric pressure and it shows the correct value. Then I put the whole setup in a water tight bag and went to maximum 8m depth with 1m increments. The datasheet of BMP280 says that it can measure Max Pressure of 1100 hPa, but my readings show max Pressure of 1736 hPa and then it saturates.

How can I measure higher pressure when in the datasheet it says 1100hPa max pressure?

Thanks

Regards

Hi,

1100 hPa is the operating rage with full accuracy.
If you apply more pressure it will output some pressure value, but you can't rely on it.

Fortunately, absolute maximum rating (let's say burst pressure) is specified as high as 20000 hPa. But the device is designed as atmospheric pressure sensor, there's no reason to expect a higher pressure range. You'll better go for a different pressure sensor.
