Optical laser diode when reading vs when reading

Hi,

Does anyone knows if there is any difference in temperature of the optical drive laser diode when reading vs when reading to ripp the data? Perhaps the photodiode detects light reflected at a different rate due to temperature deltas?

Thanks for the help.
