piezo receiver

I have been working on an 8MHz piezo receiver circuit using a high-impedance FET input buffer followed by several common-emitter amplifier gain stages...but it doesnt seem to work no matter what...

FET followers, according to 'Horowitz and Hill' have rather high output impedance so I've resorted to emitter followers instead. No joy.

Is there a configuration of having a high-input impedance FET within the C-E amp and what procedure is used for calculating resistance values?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
