I am using a logic analyser to measure a low frequency signal of period 2s.I am able to observe the signal but,I am not able to trigger on a rising/falling edge. The trigger point appears to be random. For much higher frequency signals I am able to do edge trigger.I have set the threshold level to 1.5v.Are there any further specific settings to be done.

I don't know about logic analysers but with oscilloscopes you need to set the trigger mode to AUTO instead of NORMAL. The same may apply.
