GUyz, i need suggestion on the questions below?

3 application circuit for diode rectifier ?

Hi,

The first in my mind :

- Main sinwave rectifier for power supply.

- Amplitude Modulation detector.

- Over voltage protection.

- Reference voltage source.

- Noise generator.

- Temperature sensor.

3 application circuit for diode rectifier is :

1. Rectification : Change ac signal to dc signal
2. Frequency multiplication: When current passes through the diode, half of the cycle is cut off. The output waveform is different from the input waveform. These waves integer multiples of the input frequency.
3. Switching : The ability of the diode to conduct when forward bias is good for switching and to insulate when reverse bias.

- Freq mixer
- Analog switch
- Charge pump DC - DC converters
- Discrete logic implementation (decoders)
- Log amplifiers
- Voltage controlled capasitance
- Oscillators (tunnel diode )
- Power voltage polarity verfication
- Power source switch

Dont forget reverse voltage protection and DC gating.

What you are measuring is the energy difference across the diode. At the current specified you will have x voltage. But it is centered around .7 of a volt. This is spectacular because it is the silicon that does it and not the doping. You can increase the current to whatever and still get close to .7 volts. Otherwise, diodes are used as rectifiers, but more importantly in DC as voltage dividers.

If your asking for simple rectifying examples, then these are about as simple as they get.

Half-wave rectifier
Full-wave rectifier
Clamping voltages
Clipping voltages
Bridge rectifiers

Sounds like a homework question.

My favorite application is the diode ring mixer because it fools people who think it's a bridge rectifier.

i think this questions means easy answers:
Half-wave,Full-wave and Bridge rectifiers.

It get challenged if you are doing the didoe rectification in RFID . Convert the power from couple magnetic field and pump to the workable voltage for IC .

The 3 applications for the diode are:
-Ampitude Modulation Detector
-Bridge rectifiers
-Clamping Voltages

What about it's use a resistor. Some might call it a nuisance, but it can dispaly a constant resistance over a small current range. It is a fact that it's ability to display a constant resistance is what makes it useful as opposed to just a mere voltage dropper.

AC to DC converter

Without this the electronic circuits can't be powered by mains.

Using diode rectifier we can get pure DC signal by using AC power supply......I mean a constant DC voltage of +5V etc which is frequently used in digital ciruits as main power source of +5v...

Secondly used for getting both +ve and -ve power DC supply voltages using rectifier......

Rectifier with some other circuitry can be used for baterry charging........

And a lot of more.......Current direction control for controlling some directional current/voltage activated device.....much much more applications and uses of diode rectifer :)

- Over voltage protection.

- Reference voltage source.

-traction

They are very useful in full wave rectification,as a envelope detector in AM demodulator and also for mixing purpose..
