Why can't i use "make" command in modelsim simulat

Dear anybody,
I want to use makefile for process my design.
but i can't use "make" command in modelsim simulator.
My modelsim is NT version. Thx,

It cannot support make in it's environment,
I found the same condition in solaris.

but it can support perl,tcl.
