IPC Class and density

Hi all,
In the earlier version of IPC I have seen footprint land pattern calculated based on IPC class (1, 2 Or 3).In the latest one (IPC7531) it is based on density level. Do IPC have any calculation based on considering both (Class and density)

Regards,
N.Raghavan

Try asking on the PCBmatrix forum, after all they wrote the spec & software.

Or perhabs PCBM will be along to answer you.

you have 3 classifications to IPC footprints.
Least, nominal and most. they refer to manufacturing levels.

Hi loosemoose,
Yes. You are right.
But earlier it is based on the criticality of the products (class1, 2 OR 3).So my question here is
1. Why earlier Land pattern based on criticality of the product and now why it is based on density of the product.
2. Is there any IPC standard which considers the both?

Regards,
N.Raghavan

ISTR that you still have the three classes also the three methods of manufacture.

Have you got the IPC7351 standard?

Ask on PCBmatrix and you get the answer from the people that wrote the spec.

Then come back here & let us know what you found out.
