What has better quality mp4 or wmv?

While downloading some files from the internet some programs give you two options: mp4 or wmv.
Which is better quality?

MP4 is "slightly" better and what's more important - more universal, for example if you decide to transfer it to a different medium ..

IMO I think mp4 or wmv are the 2 different containers only. They are nothing relate to the quality of the file. The quality of that file depends on how people made it.

Although they are different container, mp4 provides better video quality and compression over wmv.

So for the same file size you can store better quality video than wmv.
