General information
This is the first release of the Symbol and Schematic Translator.
Usage and conversion instructions including translator limitations can be found in the translator help file.
Installation preparation
Administrator privileges
You must have Administrator privileges to install the Symbol and Schematic Translator.
Disable virus shields and screen savers
You should disable virus shields and screen savers prior to installation.
Operating System and Internet Explorer support
The Symbol and Schematic Translator supports the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.0, Windows XP Home, Windows XP Professional and Windows 2000.
Installation
PADS-Designer or ePD 3.x must be installed with the translator
The Symbol and Schematic Translator uses files from PADS-Designer or ePD
3.x for file generation. The translator will not run correctly unless one of the
programs is installed on the same system.
Installation instructions
Follow the screen prompts during installation for instructions.
Installing on Windows 2000, service pack 2.0 or earlier
If you encounter an error regarding source media not being found, restart your system.
Power User privileges to run the programs
Users must have Power User privileges to run the translator.
Security
The Symbol and Schematic Translator is not secured.
Symbol and Schematic Translator for OrCAD and
PADS-PowerLogic to PADS-Designer
For general information, supported file types, and known issues and limitations, see the Symbol and Schematic Translator help. You can access this help system by clicking Help in the translator dialog box.
To start the translator and access help:
On the Start menu, point to Programs, point to PADS PCB Design Solutions, point to System Design, and click Symbol & Schematic Translator.
Select PowerLogic or OrCAD Capture, and then click OK.
