Hi,

I am designing a portable device that will run on batteries.

What type of batteries would you generally recommand? Capacity (battery life) is most important factor.

regards

It is actually a BRAILLE decoder that will allow for teachers to see what students are typing on there braille writers.

Since NiCads are obsolete, although still in use, I would suggest NiMH. They can handle more amps and are half the weight.

More ampere hour(Ah) battery means more powerful. This is mentioned on all the batteries.

I know :)

I mean what kind of chemistry, what kind of size batteries etc..

The book on-line "Batteries in a Portable World" can help you:
