byteblaster ii schematics lpt

If byteblaster MV is ok
I have it

modify byteblastermv to byteblaster ii

ByteBlasterMV don't suppurt EPCS

byteblastermv sch

Hello
This is schema of BBII. I tested it with Cyclone and EPS1

mhmhmh
,you try it with Quartussii?

Hello
Yes, it works for me with QII 2.2sp2 full and some web

Good question. I will try it with ByteBlasterMV.

it does work with qu@rtus 3.0 and byteblaster II. you can try it.

ByteBlaster II for Cyclone Serial Configuration

This Design looks very familiar. It uses a 74HC244 like the ByteBlasterMV. Just uses two of them. You need two?

You tested it with the EPCS1SI8 ? Sure? And it realy works? Realy?
Why should I spend 150,- EUR for a little tiny 74HC244?

The Design of "grivin" **broken link removed**
looks much more complicated! Especialy the "Switches" are IMHO not very cute.

Re: ByteblasterII sch?

mhmhmh's solution is correct. It's a simple version BII and can work well. I just use this way. The total cost is only $2.00
But it only support 2.5v/3.3v/5v.

Of course, the official sch from @ltera is very complex. Here is a BII photo

It can support 1.8v and even lower voltage.

Re: ByteblasterII sch?

BBMV is used for EPC1,EPC2,EPC4..It has only one 74HC244.
BBII is used for EPS1,EPS4.BBII is more complex with some components!

but why i test it and not work?maybe i not do ti right?

Because it is a 74HC244 handled with love by a 3 Million dollar pick and place machine! (And because you understand that they need to amortize the pick and place machine! lol ! :D

Re: ByteblasterII sch?

Just used my spare ByteBlasterMV with modification to successfully program an EPCS1 within Quartus II 4.0SP1 (o;

1. Lift pin 19 of hc244 and connect it to GND
2. Lift pin 8 of hc244 and connect it to pin 4 of LPT
3. Lift pin 17 of hc244 and connect it to pin 5 of LPT
4. Cut connection between pin 7/10 of LPT and replace with 6/10 connection
(recognizes ByteBlasterII instead of MV)
5. Pull pin 15 of LPT to GND
6. Connect pin 12 of hc244 to pin 8 of flatcable
7. Connect pin 3 of hc244 to pin 6 of flatcable

that's all (o;

ByteblasterII sch?

just looking for BBII.thank you all of then, i'll try.

Re: ByteblasterII sch?

Dear davorin,
you described a way to modify ByteblasterMV to ByteblasterII. Should below circuit then work?

Did anybody use this circuit to programm an EPCS16?

Re: ByteblasterII sch?

Hello,

although the discussion is somewhat outdated, I want to supply my Byteblaster II compatible design, that some customers and I have used since years. Gerber Files and *.gwk for a eightfold PCB are included. If someone could use the original Integra Station design, please send P.M. I also have a Lattice ISP variant of the cable. 2 layer PCB uses industry standards 6 mils (0,15 mm) technology with 12 mils (0,3 mm) vias.

The PCB is intended to fit a Sub-D 25 case with edge mounted Sub-D and 10-pin connector, for the 10-pin connector a cutout is necessary. It looks very similar to the $19 cable presented in a usergroup. In a laboratory enviroment, it could be used without a case as well.

As an additional remark: JTAG programming is operational with long flat cables (1 m and more), AS programming could be an issue with more than 20 cm. Thus it's good to have detachable cables.

Regards,

Frank
