what is bluetooth.........?

thanks

Short range computer interface working in ISM band (2.4GHz).

IEEE 802.15.1, Bluetooth

short range, ISM band (2.4 GHz), GFSK modulation, frequency hopping (FHSS), 79 channel, approx. 1 Mbit/s

Nowadays it is used in many cellphone and other stuffs, almost every notebook has a bluetooth interface...

Basically Bluetooth is an R.F. interface for communication between two or more devices (the devices should contain the neccessary BT hardware).

For example you can transfer information between:

- PC to your cell phone.
- From one cell phone to another
- From your cell phone to your Bluetooth handsfree device
- Between two PCs
- etc.

Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs). Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras, and video game consoles over a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency.

The Bluetooth specifications are developed and licensed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

it is also widely used as a cable replacement, eg for rs232 etc.

the best material is available at bluetooth.com and also from Bluetooth SIG partner sites.

Can the range of bluetooth be extended like Wi-fi? If not why?

i think bluetooth is the basis of of the creation of wifi. low cost and hi data rate. voice and data.

Wi fi has a central server and provides network in a particular region for clients.
But bluetooth doesn't have any central managing device.....

Bluetooth enable users to connect a wide range of computing and telecommunications devices easily and simply without the need to buy, carry or connect cables.

To make this true, technology must first be implemented into hardware.

Using a development kit is the first step of implementing this technology and this articlewill go through several development kit alternatives found from the Internet.

Development kits can be connected to PC or they can be interfaced with real hardware solutions by using microcontrollers.

So bluetooth work on 2.4GHZ frequency ,GFSK modulation.....

Is it vulnerable to jamming?? or Bluetooth can't be jammed??
