I have a ton of diodes (the small glass ones, as well as larger black ones), is there any way for me to tell what diodes I have here? I need 1N14148 or 1N4448's and I can't tell what mine are.

Thanks in advance.

Diodes: Please help!

the glass one may be zener... from my experience black must be the one u r looking for

Re: Diodes: Please help!

The glass diode could be thew 1n4148 or 1n914 or anything else. If they are not zener or other type of diodes, most probable are the one you are looking for.
The plastick-black diodes usually are of the 1N400X type. But you must have in mind their voltage rating since a 1N4001 is rated at 50V, the 1N4002 at 100V and so on.
So if you have 1N4001, you cannot connect it on mains supply neither the 4002, 4003.

Well I suggest that u draw irs transfer characteristics on an oscilloscope. That way its rated voltage and wether its zener or not will be evident.

The one's I need are supposed to be glass, but if I can't identify the ones I have I don't want to just use a random one. Voltage will not be a problem, as I am using only 16v max in my circuit.

I don't have an oscilloscope yet, is there any other way to tell if it is zener or not?

I can get High-Res pictures of them, if the text is helpful i can see "1N4" written on the side of one and the letter "H" on the other side of it. (small glass diode with 1 black band on it)

EDIT: I have just moved most of these aside and purchased new ones. I may be getting a scope this weekend and I will see if I can't check them at that point.
