Hello everyone,

I am encountering an unexpected problem with my data analysis. I have to analyse an acoustic signal which has a large amount of peaks. The amplitude of the peaks is not fixed nor the time of each peak. What I want to do is to measure
1) The time interval between two peaks.
2) The time interval that a peak lasts.

I cannot use thresholds that easy because I want to preserve as much information as possible.

Is there a known technique to deal with this problem? Are there any m-files available or any toolbox for such a problem?

Please help me...This is most urgent.

Thank you in advance.

hi

checkout some program like AGC (automatic gain control)
u can even normallize the signal then keep a particular threshold
